SAFE CAMPING

Camping in the countryside is usually great fun, but sometime things can go wrong. Accidents can happen, it is essential to think about safety both before you go and while you are there. This will prevent your fun camping trip turning something less pleasant.

Firstly, you need to plan ahead. Check out the weather forecast a few days advance and watch out for any reports of fires in the area you are thinking going to. Prepare an emergency kit in you or anyone with you has an accident or illness while you are there.

Choose your campsite carefully, avoiding any places there is a risk of flooding. Before you put your tent, make there are no sharp objects on the ground, or ants ‘ or wasps’ nests nearby

In to keep insects out of the tent, close it whenever you go in or out. If you need a camp fire cooking, be careful to build it anywhere near your tent, and before you go to bed, remember to put it completely, preferably with lots of water.

After meals, pick up any bits of food that be left on the ground, as these can attract insects – or larger creatures. It also makes sense, for same reason, to keep unused food in closed containers well away from the camp. You don’t want an hungry bear or other animal suddenly appearing in your tent.

MY PERFECT WEEKEND

Each week we ask a famous person to tell us about their ideal weekend. This weekend it’s the turn actress, Laila Rouass.

would I spend the perfect weekend? Well, on Sundays I like better to hang on in Soreditch around Brick Lane. When I was younger I’d go there more or every weekend with my parents; we’d go to the market and have lunch from a food stall and it’s still a crazy and quirky as it to be when I was a kid. I always have good luck around the bric-a-brac shops. I love the second-hand furniture they sell though I ever actually buy anything.

I’m not of those people who escape to the countryside at weekends. If we went anywhere, it would to Morocco, where I spent a large part of my childhoold. My parents are from there and I own now a farm near Tangiers. I love it: it’s so quick and easy get to – just a three-hour flight from London and two-hour time difference but as as you step off the plane, you’re in a different world. You’re in Africa and nowhere else has a lively cafe culture as there is in Morocco.

When I was younger I’d go out clubbing every weekend I can’t remember the last time I went dancing . On the rare occasions that we do go out , it’s usually to Home House, a club in London. I joined a few years because I really like the atmosphere.

But more often than not I just don’t feel going out. I’ve got a reputation for arranging things with my girlfriends and sticking to them. They end up coming over to mine and watching a movie.
