Academic Director
Hi everyone, I’m Richard. I’ve been teaching English since 2006 and I’m delighted to return to Manchester after some years away and to return home to Britannia English Academy, where I first taught from 2012-2018. Outside of the workplace, I’m a keen sports fan, particularly enjoying football and I’m an Everton supporter. I also enjoy street photography, reading and writing, as well as travelling and visiting different countries and cities.
Assistant Academic Director
My name is Peter. I’m from Brighton on the south coast of England. After graduating from Surrey University in 2003 I joined the Metropolitan Police where I worked in Finance. In 2011 I fancied a new direction and taught TEFL in the DMZ in South Korea. After that I taught in Granada and Cordoba, enjoying 5 years in sunny Andalusia, Spain. I’ve moved to rainy Manchester to enjoy a slightly colder climate. My hobbies are playing the ukulele, painting waterfalls, freestyle jazz, darts and eating spicy food. I like teaching at BEA because my students are so energetic and vibrant.
Senior Teacher
Hello, I’m David. I’m from the Manchester area and though I’ve spent a number of years teaching English abroad I am now back in my home city, working here at Britannia English Academy. I feel blessed here in working with supportive colleagues, and learners who are motivated, pleasant and engaging, and who come from such a wide variety of places and backgrounds. I usually leave work each day with a smile on my face because interaction with these learners is so rewarding.

Hi everyone, I’m Yousef, a Manchester native. I spent three years living in Australia from 2013-2016. After returning home to Manchester for a brief month, I then travelled around South America for 8 months, where I had my first English teaching job in rural Colombia. After gaining invaluable experience, in 2019 I moved to Hanoi, Vietnam where I taught English in a language school for fifteen months. I am an avid football fan and a keen Manchester United fan (for my sins) and I also practise Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing) when I have free time, so to all potential new students... make sure you do your homework!

I became an English teacher because I love languages! I studied TESOL and English at university and gained my TrinityCert teaching qualification at the same time. I worked in different language schools before returning to university to complete a Master's degree in TESOL. I love engaging with the students and watching them blossom into competent users of English. I love engaging with students in the class and I can't wait for you to join us at BEA.

Hello everyone! My name is Sally and I am from Manchester. After graduating university in London, I moved to sunny Spain where I began my journey of teaching English. I worked in several different language academies, high schools and primary schools, and fell in love with Spain along the way. 3 years later I have come back to my home town of Manchester and joined the wonderful team at BEA. I really enjoy helping students gain confidence in their English and I particularly enjoy the fun of working with children too. I am a keen swimmer and dog lover. I also love a cup of tea!

Hey everyone! I'm a CELTA trained, award-winning ESOL teacher, with a B.A (Hons) in Business Management. I have travelled and lived abroad for 8 years, having taught English in China and Vietnam. This has given me a deep understanding and appreciation for other people and cultures.
A native of Manchester, I always try to make my lessons engaging yet challenging. The goal is to equip the student with all the language skills needed in the real world. I love working for Britannia, as instead of me 'going to the world', 'the world now comes to me'. I also organise regular hiking/walking trips with my students at weekends, as I think it's important for them to learn about the surrounding area and gain a deeper understanding of UK culture.
General Manager
Hello everyone, I'm Ilaria and I'm from Italy. After I finished my diploma in high school I decided to move to London just for a month to learn English and...- nine years later - here I am!
I lived in London for 6 years and then moved to Manchester 3 years ago.
I'm in love with the city as you have the chance to meet people from all over the world, explore new cultures, and learn about each other.
That is also what makes me so proud to work for Britannia.
I enjoy welcoming students from different countries, recommending places to visit, helping them to choose what they are looking for, and seeing their achievements and motivation during the course.

Hello, My name is Yukie. I’m originally from Japan. I moved to Manchester in 2011. I studied Primary School Education at university. I was a primary school teacher in Japan. I studied abroad in America and Australia while I was at university, so I know how good the experience is. Then I worked in America as a childcare provider for 2 years. Since I moved to the UK I have worked for an airline as a booking agent. Through these experiences I have learned how you feel when you are studying English abroad, when you are living abroad, and also how difficult it is to learn, speak and teach English too 😉

Hi everyone! My name is Jingshu, and I’m originally from China. I’ve been living in Manchester since 2011.
I initially came here to pursue my study at Salford University, and after completing my degree, I decided to make Manchester my home. My career began in retail, which gave me the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world, each with their own unique cultures and backgrounds. This experience has not only helped me forge many friendships but also build a strong, supportive community here in Manchester.
I joined BEA because it’s an exceptional team that supports international students in adapting to life in a new environment. Working with BEA gives me a deep sense of fulfilment, as I can help students who, like myself, have faced language barriers and challenges while studying and living in a new country.

Hi all! I am Adrien and I am from Normandy, France.
I came to the UK in 2020 to pursue my master's degree in Liverpool, as I didn't see myself living anywhere else other than in England! After another year in Liverpool, I fell in love with Manchester. This city has all I need: legendary bands, lovely people and a warm, not weather, but atmosphere, which is all that matters. I am now part of BEA's team and I am particularly keen on helping international students settling in the UK and getting to know them a bit more every day.

Sales Operation Coordinator
Hello, my name is Fabrizio, and I am originally from Bari, Italy. After completing my diploma in Gastronomy and Hospitality Management, I decided to change my life and explore the world. At first, I was planning to move to the US or Australia, and Manchester was supposed to be just a one-year stop to improve my English. But I fell in love with the city — it's dynamic, full of life, and if you're a football fan like me… bingo!
After several years working in hospitality, I wanted to challenge myself with a completely different career path. Britannia English Academy gave me that opportunity, and since 2025, I have been working here as the Sales Coordinator for the Italian market.
And yes — as a true Italian, I absolutely love pasta!
